Tickets and Volunteers Tickets and Donations Tickets and a Headcount You Can Trust Tickets and a Waiver or Extra Info Frequently Asked QuestionsMost ticketing platforms sell tickets and stop there. Real events rarely stop there. A gala also needs a check-in table. A tournament also needs a signed waiver. A festival also needs someone staffing the gate.
SignUpGenius Events handles ticketing alongside the other things your event actually needs, from the same account you likely already use for volunteer sign ups. Here's how groups put that combination to work, organized by what your event needs beyond just the ticket.
Some events don't just need people to buy a ticket. They need people staffing the gate, running concessions, or directing parking. Selling tickets in one tool and coordinating that staff in another means double the setup and no shared view of the event.
School Sports Games and Performances
Sell tickets at the gate or in advance while volunteers cover concessions, ticket-taking, and parking, all from the same event.
Festivals and Carnivals
Combine admission tickets with sign ups for booth staffing, setup, and cleanup shifts.
Tournaments and Field Days
Sell entry tickets and staff the event with scorekeepers, table monitors, or check-in volunteers on one shared page.

See the school event ticketing guideFor fundraising events, the ticket price is rarely the ceiling on what someone's willing to give. The events below all benefit from letting guests donate beyond their ticket, or give even if they can't attend at all.
Galas and Formal Dinners
Sell individual tickets or sponsor tables, then let guests add a donation on top of their ticket price at checkout.
Walk-a-Thons and Fun Runs
Sell participant tickets, then let friends and family sponsor or donate to a runner without needing to attend.
Giving Tuesday Events
Pair a small in-person gathering with ticket sales and a real-time donation goal tracker guests can watch climb.
Genius Tip
Add a "can't attend but want to give" donation option right on your event page. It captures support from people outside your ticket buyer list without a second link.
For smaller or budget-conscious events, the real fear usually isn't low turnout. It's the opposite: running out of food, seats, or supplies because nobody had an accurate count going in.
Team Banquets
Sell tickets with a meal choice question built into checkout, so the kitchen gets an exact count by protein, not a guess.
Chili Cook-Offs and Food Contests
Sell tasting tickets in advance and set a capacity limit so you know exactly how much to cook.
Small Venue Performances
Cap ticket sales at your room's actual capacity and let sales close automatically once you're full.
Some events can't just sell a ticket. They need a signature, a t-shirt size, or an emergency contact attached to that ticket before anyone walks in the door.
Sports Tournaments
Sell entry tickets and collect a liability waiver in the same checkout step, no separate paper form at check-in.
Camps and Clinics
Collect registration fees, medical info, and a signed waiver together, all attached to one ticket.
Vendor and Sponsor Events
Sell a vendor ticket and collect a signed agreement or booth details at the same time.

Need more than a signature?
Forms and Waivers collects e-signatures, file uploads, and custom questions alongside payment, so a ticket and its paperwork never get separated.
See how Forms and Waivers worksCan I manage volunteers and sell tickets on the same event page?
Yes. You can sell tickets for your event and create sign ups for volunteer roles like check-in, concessions, or setup, all tied to the same event from one account.
Can I collect donations and sell tickets together?
Yes. You can offer a donation option alongside ticket sales, so guests can give beyond their ticket price or donate even if they can't attend.
How do I keep an accurate headcount for a ticketed event?
Set a capacity limit when you create your event. Ticket sales close automatically once you've reached it, and any custom checkout questions, like meal choice, give you an exact breakdown ahead of time.
Can I collect a waiver or extra info with a ticket purchase?
Not on a standard ticket sale, but Forms and Waivers collects signatures, files, and custom questions in the same checkout step as payment, so it travels with the ticket.
Is there a fee for ticketing, donations, or registrations?
Yes, a small per-transaction fee applies. Visit the pricing page for current rates, since fees can change.
